Here comes the Hobbits

'Skyfall' takes down 'Twilight' while 'Playing for Keeps' is just another movie steamrolled this holiday season by the big three.   However their time is running out.  'Skyfall' took the week with around $10.8 million while 'Twilight' and 'Lincoln' dropped to third and fourth respectively behind 'Rise of the Guardians' failing to make it into 8 digit land.  Insert 'The Hobbit'.  With new movies failing to make the grade and the stalwarts showing age, it couldn't be better for a movie to make a big splash.

Christmas is approaching fast and Ned is looking to sweep.  He has a sizable lead in all three categories  and it's going to take an unknown to do well.  In second and holding for the second straight week is Colleen while Faith and Chuck are duking it out for third.  Hold tight, Ned may have the lead, but there is going to be some jockeying for the other spots.

I hope Monsters 3D does well, since I put it so high. Will anyone go see an old movie?

Also, what happens for Chuck if Stand Up Guys isn't out by the end of January?

So do I! My big mistake is costing me dearly. I hope so too! However in its favor, Pixar is a known quantity, and 'Monsters, Inc.' did pretty well the first time around. It will almost insure you a victory if it does well.

As for your second question, Chuck will have an alternate to fall back if 'Stand Up Guys' doesn't open in time. The movie that he picked as his alternate will slide right into the same spot 'Stand Up Guys' currently holds.

Did you see that the movie 'Jack Reacher' was moved back? If anybody had drafted that movie, they now would be relying on their alternate to take its place.

That means Chuck is looking at adding Paranormal Activity 4's 29mil in that last spot. I think this is going to go down the wire ...

Yes, he will get a pretty big boost with 'Paranormal Activity 4'! At least someone is trying to make it interesting, lol. Colleen's 'Silver Lining Playbook' suffered a terrible opening weekend. Beware if that moves to a wide release ...
