We just can't get enough of dinosaurs!

Ted 2 and Max were steamrolled in the wake that is Jurassic World.  The dinosaurs continue to lead the way for a third straight weekend racking up $500 million in the process.  As a result there wasn't much change in the league.  Emily is still perched on top of the Multipliers and Beth is leading the way in Blockbusters.

Do you want to hear something scary?  Emily might be clinching the Multipliers this week.  This week happens to be the midpoint for the season.  That is awful early right?  Much too soon to be winning anything! But that isn't the scary part.  The scary part just so happens to be that she can do it with Magic Mike ... XXL.  As if they will make a XXXL.  You may let out your scream followed by an overly exaggerated sigh here.

Yes there are still potential big releases as well, but June has been good to Emily.  Beth has been reigning queen in the Blockbusters for several weeks now.  However, everyone is starting to stack up behind her.  With fewer openings, she will have to sweat it out as teams will each be staking their claim at the title.

The Others, 2nd Half picks are here!

Hey there movie fans.  It is now time to pick for the second half of The Others.  If you recall back in April I was going to submit 2 different lists for The Others.  Well now is that time.  Just like you did for the 1st half, pick 8 movies.  Order does not matter because I will score your top picks.  Picks are due July 4th. Happy hunting!

In case you are wondering, the reason for this is to have more to choose from.  Due to being smaller releases, its harder to gauge when or if they ever come out. If any questions, feel free to email.

Dinosaurs are still living large!

For the second straight week Jurassic World takes the box office.  However, Inside Out had a very respectable showing at $90 million.  Dope was a little to indie for audiences and topped out at $6 million.  The question this brings out, is there any money left to make?  With two massive openings and some decent ones to boot, how much money is left in people's wallets?

The Dailey family once again are out front with a strong showing after being off the past few seasons.  However, it will not be smooth sailing 'til the finish.  The Blockbusters is turning out to be close.  Those at the top, the Dailey's have fewer openings remaining.  Actually one less than listed due to everyone picking the Minions.

In other news, it looks like they have moved Pan's opening back to October of this year.  If you did pick Pan to be in your top 10, all those below will move up a spot.  Your first Alternate will then be your 10th pick overall.

For the second time this movie season, I have left the theaters wanting more.  The first time was back in May when the Marvel Universe expanded even further featuring a new set of Avengers.  I wasn't even done with the old team.  This time around it was with dinosaurs.  I have always been a big fan of Jurassic Park.  The second two were watchable. With the edition of the 4th, I am now hoping that there will be a 5th ... and I am not alone says the $200 million opening weekend.

Jurassic World (JW) was huge. It could have an impact on the upcoming weeks.  At this point, I am really not sure if there is anybody out there who hasn't seen it but the openings coming up could feel a little bit of an ... aftershock.  With 2 big openings in the first half of the season, are people set to keep heading to the theaters this summer?

Emily took a risk back in April by placing JW first in the Multipliers.  She was the only one and it has paid off.  The question to ask right now, is it enough?  If May and early June are any indication, then no.  Minions and Fantastic Four could play a major role in the league's outcome.  Orrr people could just run out of money.  Orrr people might become overloaded with too many movies.   In any case, the lead is being passed around like a hot potato.  September 6th is when the buzzer will go off.  Who will be in first?  It is hard to tell at this time.

It's anybody's to take at this time...

This past weekend's box office returns are turning out to be a perfect example of this season.  On Friday, the third chapter of Insidious was in the lead and poised to to take the weekend.  However, by Sunday night, Spy was sitting on top.  Just like this league, the lead was up for grabs.  After taking the top spot in both leagues last week, now Emily finds herself in 2nd and 3rd respectfully.  In fact this league could go down to who ever has the last opening.

Out this week is Jurassic World.  Most teams picked it to finish in their top five.  This movie could scramble the league pretty good and leave those who didn't pick it to finish high or not at all scratching their heads.  On the other hand it could be another Aloha and they are thought of as geniuses.  Nah, its giant dinosaurs fighting Star Lord and his new minions, JW 1 through 3 bad guys. If anything else, the teaser trailer was awesome.  Just a hint of the original score!

"Aloha means goodbye"

San Andreas was a nice surprise while Aloha was a bust.  Did you see in the paper where the director is already apologizing for the cast selections?  Maybe it was the script ... just saying.

As for the league, Emily has jumped into the top spot for both the Blockbusters and the Multipliers. Having picked more to open in May she leads the way to a June that is jam packed with potential hits.   It could be a bumpy ride so hold onto your hats folks.  

And another thing, will Dope make money.  I kind of want to see it.
