The Hunger Games remained on topped with a solid $74 million dollar gross in just their second weekend. I wonder if their is a prequel or even a sequel to the trilogy. One thing is for sure, I bet the producers are just begging for more books. Frozen expanded and with it greatly increased it's opening weekend earnings. However, Homefront and Black Nativity failed to draw much of a crowd.
Thanksgiving caused quite the shake up in the league this past weekend. Jenna remains on top with Ned following closely behind. Jamie leaped up to 5th while John and Faith fell to last. Looking back at the multiplier, was it wise to not use it? It did add another element to the game. For the last two seasons, your picks determined your fate. Even if you didn't pick the best movies, where they were placed could help you out due to the multiplier. However this also caused a great disparity in the league. For example, if you didn't pick the movie that made $180 at one or two, you found yourself trying to make up $200, $400 or even $600 million hole. That is hard to do when movies are only opening at $60 or $50 million.
By not using the multiplier, the league is in fact closer from top to bottom. Most teams will have picked the top 5 or 6 movies. However, it will be those last four which will determine the outcome. It's those last four picks that tend to make the same amount. Hopefully, in theory, this will allow for some close races. Plus the holiday season produces far fewer bigger opening releases. Just food for thought.
