This could be it …

August strikes again!  Typically, movies struggle with big openings due in part to the well running dry.  By this time during the summer, most folks have spent lots on movies and this year isn’t any different.  The month of August is usually overrun with horror and/or other movies trying to stay away from the studios’ tent pole summer flicks such as The Avengers and Batman.

This past weekend despite a cool trailer Total Recall opened up at $25 mil.  Is this respectable?  I wouldn’t think so and we won’t go into the gory details.  There are plenty of websites that have already broken it down. What does it mean to us?  Well it has slightly opened the door.  Maybe just a jar, but it’s an opening!  There is just one blockbuster left, The Bourne Legacy.   If the remake opens big, it’s in the bag, however as it stands, Colleen is only $54 mil in front of Jeff.  That’s without dropping our lowest movie. Then the lead is only $41 mil. “So you are saying there is a chance.”
