Almost there ...

For the first time this summer, there were no new openings. It's a good thing too!, Overall earnings for the weekend dropped $40 million and could continue to drop right on into the holiday weekend.  Any surprise when an Expendables sequel is leading the way. 

Opening this week is Lawless and The Possession.   Yup, the perfect way to end August with moonshine runners and horror.  The Good Doctor and Little Birds also make their way to the big screen.  However, you can catch the doc on HDNet right now! 

Coming up next is the expanded holiday season.  Next week I will have a wrap up of the Summer.

No change whatsoever ….

The Expendables sequel managed to bring in $28.6 million leading the way.   I believe it is official, we are out of money.  However the ole coots did make more than Total Recall.  ParaNorman, Sparkle, and The Odd Life of Timothy Green made no splash at all.  The openings of The Apparition, Hit and Run and Premium Rush will all be thrown to the wolves this week.

The end is near …

There are just a couple of weeks left to go with most of the movies in the book.  Colleen sits firmly on top.  Bourne Legacy managed to make only $38 million dollars leaving Jeff just short of overtaking first.  There are only a couple of movies left and you never know if one of the ‘The Rest’ will have a wide release.       

Opening this week is a plethora of movies which no one picked but might make a decent amount.  They are The Expendables 2, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, ParaNorman and Sparkle.  Maybe this is a catch up weekend.
