The uncertainty is here ....

This is the end, sort of ...
Today is May 1st, which would have been the opening of Black Widow and the start of the summer season.  If you have been living under the rock these past few months (I might know a couple that have),  that is just not going to happen.  In fact, many folks are still in limbo as to what businesses are opening, when the businesses are opening, and even where in the US the businesses are opening. Plus now we are having movie theater chains fighting with movie studios.  What does that mean for us?  Totally delaying the start to summer season.  As of right now, it's looking more like a July 1st or August 1st if we even have it.  Definitely going to wait to see that there is at least a $20 million plus weekend, and big names return to the marque.

With the delayed or even cancellation of the Summer season, this will be the last letter for a while.  I will keep you posted on when the next season will start and what movies released (???).  Congrats goes to Rey for picking early and often, who knew! Take care, be safe.

The completist in me is satisfied.

Coming to a theater near you ...
Honestly, not sure what to put here.

I could add movies here that release dates will probably move.  Could add movies coming out on Streaming.  However, what I should add here is the re-make of movies that we like.  Don't have the time, skills, or equipment?  Watch Be Kind Rewind for inspiration!

We are almost there ...

The end is here, last weekend ...
April is coming to a close.  Temperatures are slowly rising.  Lots of rain is projected in my neck of the world (Maybe the weather people will get it wrong.).  It sure is a new norm that we are living in and one to remember.

Nothing new to report here, lol.

The standings so far ...
Is this like someone's basement ...

Resistance                    $2490
Swallow                       $2490
The Other Lamb          $265

I hear that movie theaters are allowed to open back up in some states starting as early as next week.  This move however, will have no bearing on this season.  With more and more being canceled in the summer, maybe not next season either.

Drive-Ins please come back ...

And now we wait ...
Usually around this time in April, the Summer Season movie list is coming out.  We are watching trailers and trying to decide which multi-million dollar marketing campaign will net the biggest results.  Franchises would surely be dominating your top ten and pondering who would be the next sleeper would keep you up nights (not really).  However right now, movie offerings look pretty dismal.  After April, not sure if it is wise to even rely on June openings.  Wonder Woman has moved back to August (for the time being).  With that being said, I think we will wait at least a month before starting (if we do).  Push comes to shove, I will just make it July, August & September.  Be safe and hope all is well.

If interested in playing, stay tune!

Random stats ...
Last weekend (April 9th) two movies managed to make money. However, they will not impact the league in the slightest

Swallow                     $1710
The Other Lamb        $1413

Drive-In theaters are making a comeback.  Social distancing at it's finest and an all-American experience to boot. They definitely need to be adding that into the totals.

Streaming to a television near you ...
What streaming service are you on?  HBO is cranking it out of the park while Hulu landed Parasite.  Netflix is promoting 'To Hot To Handle'.  There are tons of others, not sure how anyone could be bored.

Plenty of time for binging ...

Brought to you by a completist ...
For some reason, whenever I watch the first movie in a trilogy, start reading a book in a series, or begin a television show, I have this desire to finish all. So with that being said, that is literally the whole point of this letter.  It's just so that when I look back, there is a post for this past week.  Wouldn't want an interruption now would we?  What is the worst series on any medium that you have completed?

In other news, with so much time at home and Spring League ending, it might be time to get an early jump on Summer League.  Not sure when it will start or what would even be included since now June movies are not being released.  It might not happen, but then ...

The standings have not changed ...

Top grossing movies for 2020 so far ....

1.) $204,417,855 Bad Boys for Life
2.) $157,901,466 1917
3.) $146,066,470 Sonic the Hedgehog
4.) $124,736,710 Jumanji: The Next Level
5.) $124,496,308 Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
6.) $84,158,461 Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey
7.) $77,047,087 Dolittle
(I included two more due to Star Wars & Jumanji opening in 2019.)

I really have no idea where this is opening ...

Five weeks to go ...

And so it begins ...
I apologize for not sending this out sooner.  It's not like I am home all day with easy access to the internet.  However, BoxOfficeMojo.com is really not updating their website at the moment with good reason. With that being said, the standings really are not changing at the moment.  I will continue to keep logging in and make any adjustments.  Maybe I will "bold" the numbers if there is any change.  Seeing how Trump just shut down the country until the end of April, I wouldn't expect any.

So, in the remaining five weeks, would anybody like to talk about anything? With the streaming services, movies have never been easier to watch.  No longer are we reliant on a dvd collection worthy of Blockbuster or a friend to get us through.  Here we have Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+ to get us through.  Blackbeard's Ghost, Snowball Express, and Justice League have been screened with more "classics" line up.  Maybe a Fast & Furious or Harry Potter marathon is in order.  Of course Star Wars will always be playing in a timely fashion.  What will you be watching?

Wash your hands ....

Wash Your Hands ...
Well, we might just be looking at the final standings of Spring League.  In a matter of a week, the US has shut down which to include theaters as well.  Movies are either moving their release dates or releasing online.  Although some have not announced yet, it's looking like the season is over.  If you are like me and way behind in your movie watching, now is the time to catch up! Stay safe and wash those hands.

These just might be the final standings ...
Stay tuned, but doubt if the changes will matter much.
