No more 'Twilight', phooey says Katniss ...

'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' sure did catch fire.  With it's big opening, everybody was given a boost in the total column.  Fortunate for one, there are no multipliers this season.  The other big release this weekend was The Delivery Man which didn't do so hot.  Failing to make $8 million in it's debut.  Since The Hunger Games was picked by all and The Delivery Man was picked by no one, no change took place.  Jenna is still on top while Jamie is on the bottom.

After a few weeks of no change in the standings, this could all change with the holiday weekend.  For many Americans this is a four day weekend.  However, for this league it is still only a three day weekend.  Thanks to Box Office Mojo for keeping the stat!

Coming out this weekend are a couple of biggies.  Black Nativity and Homefront hit the theaters along with Oldboy opening on only a few theaters.  Also spreading to more screens (hopefully in your home town) is The Book Thief and Frozen.

No change in the standings.

For the second straight we there was no change in the standings.  Last week every one had Thor and now this week nobody had The Best Man Holiday.  Considering that it opened at $30 million, I bet there were a few that wished it had.  Looking on to next week, there will again be no change in the standings with everyone picking The Hunger Games and no one picking The Delivery Man.

Here comes the holiday season, approach with caution.

This past weekend I headed out the door for a Sunday matinee.  My friends and I were to see "Thor: The Dark World".  As we sat there watching a half hour of commercials and then another half hour of trailers/commercials, it occurred I know nothing about Thor.  He wields a hammer (so does Eragon's cousin Roran Garrowsson a fact to prove I know something) and he resides in Asgard.  Question: Does not knowing much about the comic cause an increase in entertainment when watching Marvel movies?  With no real opinion formed, I would have to say yes.  It is better to be uninformed, left in the dark, clueless while taking in a comic book movie.  Have we just found our target audience?

Thanks for your patience as it took a little longer to set up the spreadsheet for the new season.  Really haven't missed much.  The Fifth Estate, The Counselor, and Ender's Game failed to bring in the big bucks.  However, the fans did flock to the theaters to see Jackass.  In fact, this movie has had the most affect on our league.  The have's are out front and the have not's are buried at the bottom.  Who knew?!?

Jenna is out front while Jamie has shot to the bottom.  Feast your eyes on the standings below.
