The gang is all back ...

Fast & Furious 6 opens big, really big!  With 6 now in the franchise this could be a sign of the times to come.  No more will there be trilogies but any number of movies.  Case in point, F&F 7 is already in production.  F&F 6 made almost $100 million in its opening weekend which could lead to even more.  Bond is currently filming 24 and 25 is planned.  

Coming out this week is the new M. Night Shyamalan installment After Earth. By the way there is already a sequel planned.  Also coming out is the star studded Now You See Me.  Finally, The East and Shadow Dancer open.  The Others has become increasingly unpredictable making it it's own division and not used as the tiebreaker in which it was once thought to be.

Week 3 is in the books!

With little or no competition, Star Trek comes out big with a $70 million opening.  Iron Man 3 and The Great Gatsby also had strong showings.   Looking to throw their hat into the ring this week is Fast & Furious 6, Epic and The Hangover Part III.  There is a lot to choose from this weekend.  The question is, will any make money?

In the league, Brett and Colleen continue to hold onto the top spot.  However with three blockbusters being released this week, the league could experience a shake up.  Colleen takes over 'The Others' this week with Indie Frances Ha.  If May is any indication, this is going to be a low scoring affair.  Summer is almost upon us!

Apparently the Gatsby was Great!

The Great Gatsby comes up big, about $50 million big!  Could this be a sign of times to come?  Are people returning to the cinemas in masses?  Will people spend all their money early and leave nothing for August?  Is The Great Gatsby just that good?  "Stay tuned, same bat time, same bat blog."

Coming up this week is Star Trek Into Darkness and a whole bunch of other movies.  Star Trek could come up big with no other major openings and IM3 two weeks out.  Gotta love these early weeks when hopes are high and everyone jockeys for position!

A brand new beginning ...

The season has started, the picks are in.  'Iron Man 3' came thundering out of the gates guaranteeing us lots of sequels ... by Marvel, yeah!  Everyone has IM3 however with the multiplier there is a leader.  His name would be me.  Of course, there was a little help from The Other guys that edged out the rest.  It's looking to be a long summer for The Other guys.

Coming out this week are 'The Great Gatsby' and 'Tyler Perry Presents Peeples'.  Never seen an American classic novel in 3D, here is your chance! Although does it lose something if you only see it in 2D?  Also coming out are 'Aftershock, 'No One Lives', and 'Sightseers'.  Let the summer horror marathon commence.

And so it begins ...

On May 3rd Iron Man 3 came to American theaters thus starting the 2013 Summer movie season.  With projections putting it around $175 million, this could start the season on a very ... rich foot.  However, this season looks to be wide open.  Sequels, cartoons and Marvel liter the calendar.  Simply put, original content is hard to come by.  Despicable Me 2, Smurfs 2, Fast & Furious 6, Hangover 3, and IM3 are just some of the sequels.  They even disguised some by not including numbers.  I'm talking to you Star Trek and Wolverine! Throw in the token radio serial to movie movie, some "what the future will look like" movie and the ole classic novel in 3D movie and we have a tough afternoon of trying to predict the top 10.  Good Luck!
